Creating the Perfect Wedding Invitation for YOU!
You said yes, and are ready to invite all of your closest friends and family to come celebrate with you…but what does that look like? There are so many options out there when it comes to wedding stationery, from pre-made designs to fully custom suites. We’re here to help demystify the world of custom wedding stationery for you!
A basic wedding invitation set includes an invitation card with the names, date and location of the wedding, an RSVP card and envelope with your return address pre-filled out, and a coordinating envelope to mail it all in. Need to communicate additional information like accommodations, directions or a welcome event? Add a details card! Want to save on postage or reduce the amount of paper you’re using? Opt for online RSVPs! There are so many ways to customize your suite based on your needs.
Around here, we love to create one-of-a-kind stationery that is sure to leave a lasting impression on your guests. After all, your invitations are often the first glimpse your guests will receive into what your wedding will be like. What is the vibe you want to communicate? Laid back and casual or a formal event? A huge blow out party or a small and intimate gathering? Your invitations can be used to reflect this feeling, and are a great way to let your guests know what to expect.
The Scribblist specializes in custom watercolor designs and we delight in getting to know you and your soon-to-be spouse so that we can infuse unique details about your life together into your designs. Many of our clients like to incorporate things like the florals that will be used on their wedding day, the landscape surrounding their venue, or even a painting of the venue itself. One of our favorite ways to add a personal touch to your suite is to incorporate your furry friends! Dogs and cats (and any other pets!) are always welcome in our studio. A custom watercolor crest is another great way to personalize your paper goods, and bonus - it can be used on your day-of stationery or decor as well! Plus, you’ll have an heirloom keepsake to treasure for years to come.
Adding texture to your suite is another fantastic way to elevate your invitations. That could be in the form of hand-dyed silk ribbons, or custom wax seals, or even incorporating natural elements like wood or leather. We love when our clients go for the unexpected!
As for some practical tips, we always recommend ordering at least 10% additional sets of your full suite. It is more cost effective to add 10% onto the total than to have to go back down the road and order a small quantity. Many of our production partners have order minimums, and since they offer tiered discounts for higher quantities, a small batch can be quite expensive. Even if you don’t *think* you will need them, trust me - and order them! You will inevitably have guest address updates or changes, guests that were forgotten or that you want to add on, and you will also want some for keepsakes or to give your photographer to style and photograph.
Our process is a collaboration - we love being given creative freedom to bring to life something made just for you, but work closely with you to ensure every detail is a reflection of your love story and the wonderful celebration that is to come!
